The Starbucks Foundation

City Year and The Starbucks Foundation share a common belief in equitable opportunities and creating welcoming spaces where people can thrive. Together, they are working to advance diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity.

For more than 10 years, Starbucks Partners and City Year Americorps members have volunteered at schools together in communities across the United States. One of their biggest annual gatherings is for their MLK Day of Service. Joining together tens of thousands of volunteers nation-wide, this day of service includes beautification and community projects in schools across the USA.

In 2023, our team had the honor of filming the MLK Day of Service simultaneously in 4 major cities - New York City, Dallas, New Orleans, and Seattle. Our teams started the day with Starbucks Partners as they brewed coffee and packed snacks for the big day. We then followed them to the schools where City Year members were preparing to welcome in community volunteers for a day of service.
